You are not alone

1 in 3 women experience urinary incontinence at some point in life.

Incontinence is the lack of voluntary control over urination. It affects more women than men and increases with age. It can occur during activities that increase abdominal pressures like coughing, lifting, jumping, running and laughing.

Pregnancy, child birth (vaginal or c- section), menopause are some of the factors that increase the likelihood of Incontinence. However, it should never be accepted as a part of normal ageing process. Incontinence is manageable and most often treatable no matter the age or physical condition you are in.

Surgery is not the only option. Physiotherapy is considered as safe and effective treatment for many pelvic floor dysfunctions and is recommended as the first line of treatment for stress incontinence.

At World of Women, we can enlighten you as to how the pelvic floor works in conjunction with the whole body and the right method of doing pelvic floor exercises. Effective strategies and awareness techniques are taught to maintain a healthy bladder and ensure you are doing the right pelvic floor exercises. We monitor your progress closely and incorporate basic exercises in your daily activities to optimize your bladder function.

You need to see your Pelvic floor Physio if you are experiencing:

  • Urinary leakage
  • Voiding more often than every 2 to 3 hours
  • Waking up often during the night to urinate
  • Hesitation to start the flow
  • Strong urge to urinate with or without leakage
  • Incomplete emptying of bladder
